Hello!
I hope this message finds you well and engaged in enriching conversations and activities. At Street Epistemology International (SEI), we're continuously working to enhance community experience and broaden the reach of Street Epistemology.
Here are some updates on recent developments and initiatives:
Our team is diligently working to ensure the financial well-being of SEI, prioritizing effective budgeting and meticulous management of expenses. This commitment is key to sustaining and expanding our initiatives, thereby enhancing support for our community. As we embark on codifying Street Epistemology via Navigating Beliefs, in collaboration with both our community members and external partners, we're exploring the introduction of paid training programs. This initiative not only enriches our educational offerings but also presents a new revenue stream for SEI, complementing our primary income source from donations.
We're also excited to share that we've been refining our first-ever SE Community Survey, the results of which will be published and used to better meet your needs and interests. We’ll be sure to promote the heck out of the survey across all SE channels when that’s ready to get a better understanding of our community.
We've begun working with our brand new social media marketing manager, who will help us engage more effectively with our audience and extend our reach. This role is crucial for connecting with a broader audience and sharing Street Epistemology with a wider community. Watch for more posts and announcements on SE and SEI’s social media platforms in the coming days and weeks.
The development of our website has seen both progress and challenges. We're collaborating with skilled professionals to enhance our online presence, making our resources more accessible and engaging.
A significant achievement in our recent endeavors is the development of an "Is this SE? Checklist." This tool aids practitioners in assessing their own or others' interactions to determine if they meet the criteria for being recognized as "Street Epistemology," as outlined in the Navigating Beliefs course. While other frameworks are being explored and developed to evaluate the quality of these interactions, such efforts currently fall beyond SEI’s immediate scope. Nonetheless, we encourage the continued development of quality assessments of SE talks by others. Perhaps one day we can publish such rubrics on the SE website for anyone interested in where a particular discussion labeled as “SE” might stack up.
We've also revived discussions about generating an audio version of the Navigating Beliefs course. While we're excited about such collaborations, we remain committed to ensuring that they align with our mission as well as marketing and business plans.
A significant consideration for us has been the use and impact of the term "street epistemology" within various contexts. We're dedicated to thoughtfully navigating these discussions, always with the mission of SEI and the well-being of our community at the forefront.
As we move forward, we're inspired by the potential of these initiatives to further our mission. Your support and engagement are invaluable to us. We're eager to continue this journey with you, fostering a community that thrives on curiosity, compassion, and a shared desire to understand the world and each other more deeply.
If you’d like to speak directly with me or the Street Epistemology International Board of Directors, you are welcome to join us at our next SEI Town Hall, which will probably be held sometime in March. These sessions are live, recorded, and may be released publicly afterwards.
The advancement of Street Epistemology is made possible through the support of dedicated, well-intentioned volunteers. If you're interested in contributing your time and talents, please complete our SEI Volunteer Form.
Thank you for being a vital part of Street Epistemology International. Together, we are making a meaningful impact, one conversation at a time.
On a personal note, I’ve been incredibly encouraged by the depth and caliber of discussions happening in the various SE communities and other venues. Many people want to see SE flourish and grow in a responsible way, and the caliber and civility of the discussions have been noteworthy.
I hope for your continued patience and support as we pursue this endeavor with your help.
Best regards,
Anthony Magnabosco
