Strengthening Our Organization Through Documentation
See how we're using documentation to keep our educational organization healthy and happy.
17 March 2023
Did you know that it requires a lot of documentation to run an educational organization? It does, and we’ve been throwing a lot of hours at the wall to create some important documents in order to ensure that we’re running a good operation over here.
And I’m not even speaking about the self-directed educational Street Epistemology course we’ve been working on since before the pandemic, the SE community survey questions that we’ve started sketching out, or the agreements we’re crafting with businesses looking for a competitive edge in their interactions and contractors interested in becoming SEI-approved trainers.
I’m talking about, well, the boring but necessary stuff. The kind of materials an organization needs if they want people to feel safe and comfortable and engaged. After another meeting or two to work out the specifics, SEI will soon be releasing its Code of Conduct for volunteers to review and sign when working for SEI. Having a code of conduct for volunteers to sign ensures that our volunteers understand and commit to SEI’s values and standards, promoting a positive and safe environment for all involved.
We also just released the Content Creators Committee Charter, which is a formal document that outlines the purpose, authority, membership, and operating procedures of the group. We’ll be working on a charter for the Club Organizers Committee next, a group for folks interested in running SE clubs, in addition to a list of Procedures each committee is responsible for. You can indicate your interest in either of these two committees by filling out the appropriate form under ‘Committee Gatherings’ here.
That’s it from me. I’ll be heading to Abilene, Texas to give a talk on Street Epistemology next week before returning to work on all these fun and exciting SE-related projects, including the development of a custom SE workshop for a large US business, finalizing the list of social media and marketing tasks we want to have done, and identifying what might be the optimal way to more regularly communicate with those interested in Street Epistemology. You can stay up to date with all our work and the activity of those conducting SE-related activities by following this calendar of events.
Best regards,
