What is Street Epistemology?
A key module from the upcoming SE course is now available for volunteer review and feedback. We’re also starting a few Committees to help us accomplish some much needed tasks.

Here’s a summary of updates for Street Epistemology International:
Module 1: What is Street Epistemology?
An incredible team has worked very hard over the past several months to put together a very important module from the upcoming self-directed course on Street Epistemology. This first module will explain in very clear terms what SE is, how it compares to other approaches, and address some common criticisms or misconceptions. We’re looking for volunteers to read the entire module (about 55 pages), provide us feedback by online survey, and then optionally participate in a Zoom-recorded hangout with other testers where we can listen to your feedback. Registration to test Module 1: What is Street Epistemology is now open and you can learn how to start the volunteer process here.
Committees
While reviewing candidates for Board positions, we have decided to look into an option of forming Committees. A Committee is simply a small group of individuals who volunteer a bit of their time to assist SEI with specific projects. Each Committee would require a Lead Chair to head up the group and report progress on a monthly basis. A few Committees that came to mind include ones that might assist us with marketing, community, and practitioners. Committees could be a great way to find new Board members and serve as a place for current Board members to downshift to while still staying in the loop.
Community Operations
We’ve identified a few people who manage online or in-person SE-related groups and are currently looking for a good date and time to meet. I’m hoping that we can create a short list of general actionable items for an SE community that we can work on together, and then perhaps publish the findings so that anyone interested can review and maybe even use it as a starting point for their own SE-related group. If you manage one of these SE communities or know someone who does, please reach out to [email protected] so that we can verify and include them in our meeting preparations.
Research
I’m pleased to say that we started to engage with an accomplished researcher who reached out to us and is looking for a way to study metacognition and street epistemology. If this pans out we may have our first scientific study on SE, which could lead to even more. Stay tuned.
We’ve been quite busy with a lot of administrative things, but those are necessary when building a world-class non-profit organization. Fortunately, I have a great team around me and lots of people waiting in the wings who are also eager to help. Please make a donation to SEI.
