Ways to Fund Your Street Epistemology Efforts Announced
We are happy to be providing financial support to interested practitioners in the SE community.
11 February 2020
There’s now a way for people interested in practicing, developing, and/or promoting Street Epistemology to receive financial support for their efforts.
The formation of Street Epistemology International, coupled with donations from our supportive community and other organizations, helped us reach a point where we can start receiving, evaluating, and approving funding requests from those wanting to spread Street Epistemology to people around the world.
Reimbursing people for some of the expenses associated with introducing SE to others has been a goal of mine for several years, and I’m excited about incentivizing people who might otherwise be on the sidelines to consider getting involved.
Since we’re relatively new and our funding channels are still being developed, the SEI Board agreed to begin with a reimbursement program. That is, after you complete the task to our agreed-upon satisfaction, Street Epistemology International will pay you back to cover the expenses associated with your venture. This approach I think will help ensure that people complete what they set out to do and we are the best stewards of the financial support we have been entrusted with.
Perhaps you’d like to give a SE talk and/or table at an upcoming conference. Maybe you’d like to upgrade a piece of equipment you use when recording SE talks. How about that printing charge for those SE workshop training materials you’ve created? These are just a few examples of the things Street Epistemology International will consider reimbursing people for.
The process is pretty simple:
- (You) Identify a Task and the expense you will incur to promote SE to others.
- (You) Complete our short online Funding Request Form.
- (SEI) Once received, your Request will be assigned to an SEI Request Manager.
- (SEI) SEI Request Manager will present Request to the Board for evaluation, approval/rejection.
- (You) Complete the Task associated with your Request.
- (SEI) SEI Request Manager will present your Task to the Board for evaluation.
- (SEI) Once approved, your Reimbursement will be sent.
- (SEI) If applicable, SEI will share your project publicly.
Of course, a program like this would not be possible if it wasn’t for supporters like you. I’m very grateful for the financial support you regularly give to our fledgling organization, and I’m becoming increasingly confident that we can truly change the world for the better.
