As the new year draws near, let us reflect on what SEI has achieved so far.

2019 was the year we formed Street Epistemology International, creating the framework to promote Street Epistemology worldwide through a non-profit, tax-deductible organization.

While some funding has trickled in from other non-profit organizations, the bulk of our donations thus far has been from individuals who understand the potential Street Epistemology has in improving discourse. People like you.

To be specific, in 2019 we formed Street Epistemology International, established a Board of Directors, created a presence for SEI on social media, created donation conduits via PayPal, Facebook, Patreon, SubscribeStar, introduced ourselves to other non-profits for funding support, and introduced Street Epistemology to people interested in politics at Politicon.

While we have mainly been in “building infrastructure and collecting funds” mode throughout most of 2019, I fully expect to start accepting funding requests from people who want to promote Street Epistemology in their area during the first quarter of 2020. The Board of Directors and I intend to be very cautious and transparent about this process, making sure people follow through on their SEI-funded efforts. Watch for more details about this program coming soon.

In 2020 we also fully expect to have an updated version of the Street Epistemology Website, making it much easier for people to find the growing list of resources, videos, and communities that are continuously cropping up.

Personally, in 2020 I’ll probably conduct fewer street interviews and scale back the number of presentations and workshops I give to focus on more strategic SE-related tasks. I recently enabled monetization on many of my videos and will direct all the proceeds to support this non-profit. I’m also planning to create a comprehensive series of short, digestible SE tutorial videos to replace ones that, in my view, are a little dated now.

I am incredibly excited about the potential growth and impact we will have around the world in the coming year. Something that we could probably never do if it wasn’t for your continued support.
