Politicon 2019 Huge Success for Street Epistemology International
In late October Street Epistemology International tabled at Politicon in Nashville, Tennessee and it was an unmistakable success.
26 November 2019
Politicon is an annual conference for people who are interested in politics, regardless of where they are on the political spectrum, and we wanted to be there.
As you are likely aware, political discourse is in dire need of attention, and we think Street Epistemology is the perfect solution to help improve things. Funds donated to our organization were used to pay for a small 10’ x 10’ booth, electricity at the booth, and some crisp black shirts with the SE logo embroidered on it for our tabling volunteers to wear.
All of our volunteers covered their airfare, travel, and sleeping arrangements, and we are so grateful they were willing to do that. My sincerest gratitude to Sarah, Todd, Tyrone, Tim, and Reid for your hard work, expertise, and individual expense that you expended this weekend to make our educational outreach a success. Special thanks to Georgia and Steven.
I’m hopeful that, with continued donations, we will reach a point where all of the expenses from events like these can be covered.
The response to Street Epistemology by Politicon conference attendees was incredibly positive and supportive. Hundreds of people stopped to learn more, watch video examples, and grab a complimentary box of candies to perform “truth tests” with others. Dozens of people even sat down and had their positions explored on camera with volunteers who are familiar with SE, much of which you can watch here.
You can find pictures of our efforts at this event on our public Facebook Page or our Twitter feed.
During the event, several people approached to say how much they appreciated Street Epistemology and expressed excitement that SE has broadened into exploring political views.
It was an incredible outreach event and networking opportunity that we without a doubt want to repeat again in the future. I was even able to meet up with Kyle Kulinski of Secular Talk, who is not only familiar with Street Epistemology, but seemed incredibly supportive of it.
Thank you to everyone who donated to help make this event happen. Street Epistemology International is seriously considering future appearances at other politically-related events, but we cannot do that without your continued assistance, and for that I am most grateful.
P.S. In addition to Facebook birthday donations, Patreon, and PayPal, you can now also support us on SubscribeStar. And please don’t forget about adding us to your Amazon Smile account!
